Check Traffic to Work or Home: Google Maps

From 2021, Google has started to give you an awesome service to check traffic to work or home.  You can easily take a look at what the traffic looks like to home or work any time using your smart Google app either on a mobile device or desktop.

How to check traffic on the road on an Android phone:

To check real-time road traffic on the roadside you need to have Google Maps downloaded to your android phone. By the way, this app comes already downloaded on your smartphone so make sure to check that you had never been unable by you or force stop by you. If everything is fine so, now you can follow the below-listed steps to check traffic to work or home.

1. First, open Google Maps and make sure that you are logged in with your email id.
2. Select the commute or Go option showing on your mobile screen and search for either work or home.
3. Select the navigation arrow to go into navigation mode.
4. While navigating, select the icon at the upper-right corner, there are multiple options that will be shown to you. You can choose any of them but here because you are searching for traffic so choose “Traffic“.

5. Now, your Google map will fill out the thin streets having three colors filled in them. The colors indicate the traffic level on them.

• • Green = Light traffic.
  • Orange = Moderate traffic.
  • Red = Congested.

So, now If you are in hurry then you can choose an alternative way to reach your destination. You can also try the remaining options present in the label button like bicycling, street view, 3D, covid-19 info, public transit. Use the navigation arrow to guide you until you reach your destination.

From Desktop Browser

1. Open your desktop and connect it either to wifi or a mobile hotspot.
2. Open Google Maps.
3. In the “Search Google Maps” area, type “Work“. If you haven’t set your work location before, you will be prompted to enter your work address.
4. In the “Search Google Maps” area, type “Home“. If you haven’t set your home location before, you will be prompted to enter your work address.
5. On the bottom left corner, you will see the layer option, select traffic.

again the areas of the street will have a color to indicate the traffic level on them. Each color has its own meaning. The meanings are as follows.

• Green = Light traffic.
• Orange = Moderate traffic.
• Red = Congested.
