This post is all about Cap. Vikram Batra(PVC). Today is his Birthday. He will always be remembered as a Hero of the Kargil War.

Captain Vikram Batra(PVC)- The Name of Chivalry

 Captain Vikram Batra is the name of Bravery, Pride and Heroism. He was the hero of the Kargil war during 1999 in Kashmir between India and Pakistan. 

He was born on 9 Sep 1974 in a small town in Palampur, Himachal Pradesh, India. His Father name was Girdhari Lal Batra and mother name was Kamal Kanta Batra. He had one brother and both had a nickname Luv(Vikram) and Kush(Vishal).  he had done his middle standard in D.A.V. Public School in Palampur and then senior secondary education at Central School, Palampur.

He was interested in the defence from his childhood. He was very active and always wanted to be ahead in every field. He graduated from DAV college Chandigarh in BSC Medical science. He was the president of the youth service club in his college. He was also an NCC Cadet of Air Wing. During the Inter-State NCC Camp, he was chosen the best NCC Air Wing cadet of Punjab Directorate in North Zone. He qualified ‘C’ Certificate in NCC with the rank of SUO. He had done a part-time job in a travel agency in Chandigarh as a BM.

During college time, he was qualified for the examination of merchant navy but suddenly he denied to join that. Then he started to prepare for CDS. In 1996, He cleared the exam and received a call for SSB at Allahabad. He was selected in the interview and from here the new era of becoming Vikram Batra to Captain VB(PVC) had started.

Military Career

On 6 Dec 1997, He completed his training about 19 months from Indian Military Academy at Dehradun and was commissioned as a lieutenant into the 13th battalion, Jammu and Kashmir Rifles (13 JAK RIF)
After his just 18 months service in the Army, he was sent to Kargil way 1999. During this, he fought really well in all tough situation. One after success, his rank rose to Captain. He had appointed a duty to free the battle point of 5140. He got success to capture this point and said ” YE DIL MAANGE MORE“. These lines charged so much to all the soldiers and they became fatality for enemies. 
He became one of the biggest challenges for Pakistan’s thats why they called him as a “Shershah” as his codename. 
After this mission, he was appointed for a new mission to capture battle of point 4875. He had started this mission with Lt. Anuj Naiyer and all scouts on 7 July 1999. On that mission, Pakistani’s soldier was rashly started firing on the Indian soldier and then Cap sensed that his team was in the danger zone then he was started fighting with Pakistanis’ soldier with very dangerous way and fired all of them with the help of his team. This mission was almost completed but then Cap Vikram found his junior companion Lt. Naveen injured. So he started to take him to secure a place, at the same time he shot at the chest by one hidden Pakistani soldier still he fought and killed every  Pakistani soldier there and waved our Flag. And the last word said by him that ” JAI HIND”. 
Once he was in his town with their friends at the starting time of Kargil war, One friend asked him to take care of yourself and come back soon so he replied “Either I will come back after hoisting the Tricolour (Indian flag), or I will come back wrapped in it, but I will be back for sure.”

Vikram Batra was awarded the Param Vir Chakra, India’s highest military honor on 15 August 1999, the 52nd anniversary of India’s independence. His father G.L. Batra received that award from the president of India.
